TheSilentSea.com launches today
After so many years in photography, it was time to separate my environmental projects from The Silent Sea work...
...have a dedicated portfolio for each of the two directions that my work has flowed between over the last 25 years...
...the reflective and the restorative.
I am a Canadian photo-based artist making work that speaks to the relationship between humans and the natural world. I work predominantly in long-term projects with a focus on forest, biodiversity and climate. (To see these environmental work visit www.davidellingsen.com)
Alongside this work (often rather challenging to one’s peace of mind) I have been making 'slow photographs'...restorative photographs...at the shore, repeatedly reminding myself of Rachel Carson’s loving and true observation that “Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”
These are the photographs you see here.
