Land of Lakes

We go often to visit family in Ontario, about an hour north of Sudbury, staying at Onaping Lake where my partner's family has had a presence for generations. We are in Robinson-Huron Treaty territory and this land is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. The immensity of the province, especially in this area away from the bustling urban centres, seems to put one in their rightful place in the grand scheme of things.

The countless lakes, mostly quiet, make for perfect shooting conditions. There is a bay on the far side from the cottage that I can paddle to and spend hours without hearing a single sound human-made.
